The Cossi love story begins in late April of 2021, with a man of God searching for brothers and sisters in Christ to share God's provision over their lives. Carter contacted Yossiana on Instagram, asking her to share a video of her testimony of God's faithfulness in her life using the hashtag #HowGodRescuedMe. At the time, Yossiana struggled with her faith, which she shared with Carter. He then shared his testimony, which sparked her return to walking with the Lord. Ironically, Carter and Yossiana were not planning on speaking again due to schedule practicality, and they felt the conversation was great where it left off!

Yossiana contacted Carter on May 2nd, 2021, to share that she had given her life to Christ. This sparked their friendship, and ever since that day, Carter and Yossiana have spoken every day about anything you can imagine! In the beginning, the FaceTime calls consisted of them talking about Christ, but eventually, they led to deeper, more intimate topics regarding family, friends, hobbies, etc.

After a month of talking every day, Carter notified Yossiana that he planned on coming to Dallas, Texas, on June 12th to visit his best childhood friend, Chewy, and asked her if she'd like to meet in person. Of course, she said yes because she had grown a liking to Carter (little did he know). They decided to meet at Top Golf to enjoy friendly competition and get to know each other better. Amid mishitting golf balls and friendly banter, Carter spoke of how much he thought Yossiana would love Minnesota. He spoke of the beautiful lakes, fun sights to see, and, most importantly, how much he loved his home state. After the evening concluded, Carter formally invited Yossiana to Minnesota, and everyone knows her answer to the invitation!

Before she scheduled her flight, they had a phone call to clarify this friendship, and during that time, they shared their emotions and concerns. They liked each other but agreed that the timing needed clarification because Carter was in New York for half the year and Minnesota for the other. Yossiana was in college at Baylor and planning to play professionally overseas within the next six months. Eventually, they decided to try and see what happens. Luckily for them, their time spent in Minnesota was magical. They ate fantastic food, went sightseeing, and were spontaneous when the weather tried to stop the fun. They realized after the trip that it was a done deal.

On Monday, June 28th, 2021, Carter asked Yossiana to be his girlfriend. Their love story is forever a part of her response, 'Duh.'
